RCRC Announces Internal Promotions

Sacramento, CA...The Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) announced today the reorganization of the Governmental Affairs division, resulting in the promotion of Paul A. Smith to Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Justin Caporusso to Vice President of External Affairs and Administration, and Mary-Ann Warmerdam to Senior Legislative Advocate. This newly formed leadership team will direct the RCRC Governmental Affairs staff in advocating on behalf of RCRC’s 35 rural California member counties. Mr. Smith and Mr. Caporusso will join Greg Norton, President and CEO, Craig Ferguson, Vice President, and Lisa McCargar, Chief Financial Officer on RCRC’s Executive Leadership Team.

“I am proud and excited to announce a reorganization and promotions from within RCRC,” stated Mr. Norton in an email to RCRC’s 35-member Board of Directors in late December. “The individual skillsets, experience, and passion of the members of the leadership team will collectively serve our member counties well.”

The reorganization follows the retirement of Patricia Megason, Executive Vice President, after providing more than fourteen years of outstanding service to RCRC’s member counties.

In his role as Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Mr. Smith leads the RCRC Governmental Affairs team, and provides strategic counsel in both statewide and federal advocacy efforts.

As Vice President of External Affairs and Administration, Mr. Caporusso oversees the organization’s internal and external communications and public relations activities, and is responsible for the administrative functions of the RCRC office.

The first order of business for the new leadership team includes the RCRC Annual Reception and Rural Leadership Awards Ceremony, scheduled for January 18, 2017 in Sacramento. Details can be accessed here.
