Neighbor Dispute Ends in Multiple Gun Shots
On Sunday December 23, 2007, at approx. 9:51pm, Calaveras County Sheriff deputies responded to an address on Little John Road in Copperopolis in regards to a physical altercation between neighbors. A CHP Officer in the area assisted deputies and arrived on scene first. When contact was attempted with the...
suspect, multiple gun shots were heard coming from the area around the suspect's residence. Deputies responded and a perimeter was established. Suspect, Dave Odell, was located by CCSO deputies in a field behind his residence and was taken into custody. Odell was reportedly intoxicated and also shattered a window to a CCSO patrol vehicle after being taken into custody.
The original reporting parties declined to press any assault charges and Odell was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of public intoxication, Resisting/Obstructing/Delaying an officer, negligent discharge of a firearm, and vandalism. Bail set at $45,000.
