Support Steve Kearney~ A Letter To The Editor By Rex Whisnand

Calaveras County, CA...This letter is in support of Supervisor Steve Kearney, because of his tremendous contributions to Calaveras County. I have had the opportunity to work with him through the Commission on Aging for Calaveras County and I have found him to be a hard worker, with a big heart and with a strong background in helping people throughout the County on many tough issues.

soapbox7

We need Supervisors like him to continue to make good decisions and to support the citizens of this County. It would be a huge Mistake to go in a different direction based on two issues which he worked on very hard and came up with good decisions while being faced with laws that didn’t allow him to express his thinking on the important issues affecting the County. In looking at his input and support of our Commission, he has provided us with very well thought out input and we are all better off due to his hard work and great enthusiasm for his job. I strongly encourage you to keep Steve Kearney as a Supervisor.

Sincerely, Rex Whisnand , Resident of Calaveras County.

Upon contemplation I have decided not to vote for supervisor Kearney's recall. That being said I am not at all happy with many of his votes. The major reason for my not supporting a recall is that there is one person seeking the position that I feel is in bed with the wrong group.
I have the cajoles not to be anonymous.

He's the best supervisor District 5 has had in years, to lose him now would be a shame...

Then why is District 5 recalling him?

Because a certain woman has a real hard on for Steve and is willing to go to any extent to push her own personal agenda after she bought property right next to the long running gravel pit that she knew was zoned M2 yet bought anyway and she has issues of the Asphalt Plant being established there. This is one of the primary reasons this woman and her small group of hate mongers are screaming and begging for this recall and then to install their own puppet in Steve's place. Do not be fooled there is a personal agenda coming from this group of hate mongers in D5. Vote No on the Recall.

I'll take your account as being accurate. It is still the case that Steve did not represent his constituents well. He tried to ram the asphalt plant through without considering who was affected and by how much. And he claimed the environmental impact of an asphalt plant was similar to a gravel quarry, which is certainly not true.

Can we just vote no on everything and let the idiots go back to thinking there is no drug problems in Calaveras ?

Can we ban the meth labs we have here too? Or ban drunk driving? Or ban idiocy?

End the ban on Meth. See how that works out.

Think of all the money for the taxpayers! We can have "medical meth dispensaries" We'll be rich.

Quick, call the BOS with this idea.

Pretty sure the BOS aren't responsible for the legalizing of Marijuana in this state, medical now nor recreational in November.

But go ahead and blame them

Maybe not. They are, however, directly responsible for creating the mess this county is currently experiencing. The smart move for the BOS would've been to wait until the state had their act together and was ready to issue state licenses under MMRSA. Instead they got greedy, jumped on the money train too early, and bought Peter Maurer's lies. This $hit show living with now is due to greed, plain and simple. And because of their inability to craft something responsible that would work for ALL affected, we have more lies being propagated by the Measure D proponents. Too important an issue to half-ass, if they can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I saw one candidate who wants to take pot money and build a park in Valley Springs. Too bad that money belongs to the whole county, not just their district.

Steve has done many good things (his support and time spent with the Boosters Club being one of them). I voted for him, had high hopes for him. With that said, his condescending rotten attitude regarding the views of a majority of the people in VS has really soured me on him. His sneaky backdoor support of the asphalt plant, and his behavior at the BOS meetings made me sick. Instead of saying what he has done to warrant our trust, he decided to slander and name call those folks who disagree with him. Vote to recall. We need a Supervisor who will listen to all people, not just the ones who line his pockets. Cliff E needs to go as well. He is just as bad!!

The majority of VS didn't care at all about the asphalt plant, a small yet determined group decided to oppose it.

you are misinformed and obviously did not attend any of the many many community meetings or BOS meetings. Lots of us (including Dr Esoesta AND Dr. Kelaita) were against the asphalt plant. You know, those of us who actually have a brain and care about what we breathe and the water that we drink, our environment? quite a few of us "educated" people in Valley Springs. One woman? I think not. Nice try though. Bye Steve.
