No they're worse than the Union Democrat - the Pinetree ass kisses it's advertisers and scrubs the comments sections of any criticism of them, but leaves all the blatantly racist comments up for the world to see.
This site has zero integrity.

Nothing to see here. its really not a big deal. Listen to any dirty hippy tell you, this is the same stuff that happened when the wineries went into business as well..

Awful, frightening story. Every week we have more of these stories. I have had to tell my kids not to bring the grandkids to mtn ranch until after harvest, too dangerous. This is ok to BOS and supporters? Somehow ordances will eventually "weed" out the evil and only sweet hippie kids with organic sustainable grows will be left? Sure in your dreams. Thank you Sheriff and DA for standing tall against this mess, dont back down.It must be banned in residential areas for the safety of all. We are your constituents, not them. This is not about legalization or growing a small number for medical use..BAN commercial grows!!!!!

Unfortunately, it has everything to do with growing pot. People, mostly young women, are being kidnapped and forced to work in slave conditions for pot growers. They are also being used for sex trafficking amongst pot growers. Fact, not fable. Thank our BOS for opening the door for them!

You are silly sunofgun. Of course it has to do with Mrijuana cultivation. Look, I know weed, have for 50 years. I have no problem , in fact would like for people to be able to grow their own without fear. But the gact is we now have a blackmarket with its roots planted right hear in Calaveras County. And black market brings greed and power and lawlessness. Shut the commercial grows down until it becomes legal everywhere.

"The conference is on human trafficking. It has nothing to do with marijuana cultivation."
Because of marijuana cultivation, this is why this all happened Einstein, my god, your stupidity is amazing. Are you on dope, dope?

I read a story posted on the Calaveras Enterprise that stated the men who were held captive were four brothers from Mexico. They thought they were getting a Day Labor job and, instead, were kidnapped and held in slavery by force. Some of the land used for this totally illegal pot plantation belonged to the BLM.
Drones- GPS Posted on: 2016-09-20 14:11:53By: Anonymous
The whole scenario stinks to high heaven...sorry for the pun:(
If the Feds really cared about illegal grows on BLM land, they would fly drones over their parcels, with GPS read-outs.When cultivation was discovered, the GPS during the flight, would record the location.A follow-up with another drone would investigate the GPS coordinates. Then enforcement.
It ain't rocket science, it does take some planning, and caring for law enforcement.
It appears the Feds want to smear the County, punish it for legal growing under State law.
I smell a rat.
The grows have been there for months, enforcement starts when the plants are in the ground, or sites prepared on BLM land.
