Betty Lucille (Rhodes) Wheeler 1932 - 2016

San Andreas, CA...Betty Lucille (Rhodes) Wheeler born August 23, 1932 in Marquand Missouri to David Ross Rhodes and Bessie Leila (Smith) Rhodes. She was the youngest of 10 siblings. Married to William L. Wheeler for 53 years and had lived in San Andreas Ca for the last 15 years. Prior residences included Nipomo California 1980-2001, and Lakewood California 1960-1980. She was a homemaker for her entire married life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and animal husbandry as well as hunting and fishing with her family. She was also active and life member in the San Andreas Ladies Auxiliary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2600 in San Andreas.

Passed away February 15, 2016 from heart conditions and colorectal cancer in San Andreas California.
She is preceded in death by parents, David Rhodes and Bessie Smith Rhodes as well as 8 of her siblings, Ethel Smagala, Grace McGinnity, Gene Rhodes, Mildred Sullivan, Mary Berry, William Rhodes, Charles Rhodes and Harold Rhodes.

She is survived by her husband William Wheeler of San Andreas California, her son John Wheeler and his wife Theresa Wheeler and grandchildren Alyssa and Nathan Wheeler all of Redding California and one sister, Melva Hageman of Des Peres Mo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

After cremation, her remains will be encapsulated at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Redding California.

Her family is planning a celebration of life memorial dinner to be announced.

Donations may be made in her honor to the San Andreas VFW Post 2600, American Cancer Society, or Calaveras County Animal Control.
