Copperopolis Town Square – the Castle & Cooke California-owned events, shopping and entertainment gathering place in Calaveras County – will host its eighth-annual “Copper Chili Cook Off” on Saturday, February 27th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers are currently seeking cook off competitors for the always-entertaining event. Each team will receive two special gifts and awards will be given in 10 categories. The entrance fee is $20. Guests who wish to taste the chili can do so for $5 (children under 12 are free). All event proceeds will be donated to the Copperopolis Fire Fighters Association.

Old Skool Pie-Pizza will offer its famous wood fired pizzas along with a special chili pizza and fresh, oven-made cornbread. Angels-Murphys Rotary will attend and serve wine, beer, sodas and water. Live music by Dive Bar Poets, special offerings from storeowners on the square, a 50/50 raffle, plus face painting, Bob the Balloon Guy, crafts and a bounce house for kids complete what promises to be a fun afternoon for all ages.

“The Copper Chili Cook Off is a great way to kick off another year of exciting events at Copperopolis Town Square,” says Kim Hamilton, Director of Marketing for Castle & Cooke Calaveras, Inc. “After their heroic efforts during last fall’s Butte Fire, we’re honored that all proceeds will benefit the Copperopolis Fire Fighters Association.”

In another recent show of support for those affected by the fire, Saddle Creek Golf Resort – the nearby Castle & Cooke golf course and community rated among the Top 10 in California – held an October golf tournament and charity dinner that helped raise nearly $15,000 for the fire victims.

For more information about the Copper Chili Cook Off, please contact Kim Hamilton at 209.785.9700. Additional details are available at www.CopperopolisTownSquare.com.
