Wintercreek Foundation Offers To Fund Rest Of K-9 Replacement Fund
Angels Camp, CA....The Angels Camp Police Department K-9 Association was notified that another generous donor is willing to provide funding to purchase a replacement police service dog. The Wintercreek Foundation offered to provide the remaining needed funding to purchase a replacement service dog. So in short, the replacement police service dog is paid for, we just need to locate the right dog for the job. We are amazed at the continued generosity displayed by the residents of this community, and we cannot express our thanks enough.
Additionally there have been several people that have come forward and offered to provide potential replacement dogs for evaluation, to see if they are suited to perform the type of duties that are required of a police service dog. We intend to follow up on those offers and evaluate the dogs that have been offered, to gauge their suitability as a police service dog. There are stringent requirements for police service dogs, they must be social and have the proper drive to do the work we expect, and not every dog is suited for the type of work we ask them to perform. Additionally, these dogs must be free from any health issues that might prevent or hinder them from performing the tasks that are routinely required. If we determine that one of these potential donor dogs is suited for police work, we will utilize the donor dog and return the monetary donations that we have received.

We will keep you posted on the evaluations, and as soon as we locate the right dog, we look forward to introducing the community to the newest member of the Angels Camp Police Department K-9 Unit.
