Taxpayers Meet
Murphys, CA..The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association hosted a public luncheon recently at the Murphys Historic Hotel, with keynote speaker Jon Coupal, President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association who discussed issues facing taxpayers in 2015 and 2016. Also speaking was Jonathan Wood, Attorney for the Pacific Legal Foundation who recently won a major case against extreme environmental regulation...
The 2015 CCTA award for Excellence in Public Service went to County Clerk of the Board, Diane Severud. CCTA recognized Diane, according to President Al Segalla, because she works diligently handling a huge amount of information, always with good cheer and transparency. She also received certificates from State Assemblyman Frank Bigelow and Senator Tom Berryhill, which were presented by County Supervisor Chair Cliff Edson, and she received a certificate from Congressman Tom McClintock which was presented by Adam Pugh of the Congressman’s office.
