Short Term Pine Needle Solutions ~ By Supervisor Michael Oliveira
Arnold, CA...On March 26, 2014 we received word that the Cogeneration Plant in Chinese Camp notified Miller’s Rock & Wood Yard that the plant would no longer take the pine needles and ‘green’ yard waste that results from the fire prevention yard work as required under Public Resource Code 4291, which resulted in Miller’s closing their yard until a solution could be found. Effective Thursday April 2nd, Miller’s Rock & Wood Yard in Avery will again start accepting ‘clean’ pine needles at $8 per yard. There is no guarantee that this will not change at some point in the future. Red Hill Disposal site is accepting pine needles from home owners only (no lot clearers or commercial) and is limited to 2 yards of ‘clean’ pine needles....
Additionally, if you are going to burn it’s important to acquire a permit (if required at the time) and call 209-754-6600 to ensure it is a burn day. Please, if you choose to burn your pine needles please follow the Rules and Regulations per Cal Fire at the following link: www.fire.ca.gov/communications/downloads/.../DebrisBurning.pdf.
Lastly, if you prefer not to burn another option would be to rent ‘bins’ ranging in size from 3 to 30 yards from Cal Waste. You load your needles and Cal Waste takes them away.
