Market49 in Angels presents the grandest of Grand Openings Feb. 28

Angels Camp, Feb. 19, 2015 - A festive Grand Opening celebration will be held at Market49, 1267 S. Main St., Angels Camp from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. In celebration of a renewed energy in downtown Angels Camp, Market49 owners Tey and Robert Cross-Carpenter and Bill and Janet Soest have planned a wide range of enticing offerings throughout the day....

All-day events include instant savings at time of purchase, customer appreciation awards, free coffee and cookies for Angels Camp residents, and TCL chocolate and Acorn Farms jelly tasting. From 10 a.m. to noon, guests can enjoy coffee tasting with master roaster Mike McLaughlin. From noon to 8 p.m., Market49 offers free educational wine tasting, sampling locally-crafted wines one-on-one with local winemakers while learning about the process of making wine in the Gold Country. The winery schedule showcases Bodega del Sur, Chatom and Stevenot from noon to 2 p.m., Ayrael Vieux, Chiarella and Hovey from 2 to 4 p.m., Black Sheep, Bunting and Milliaire from 4 to 6 p.m., and Four Winds, Renegade and Renner from 6 to 8 p.m.

An artist’s reception for Susie Hoffman follows from 4 to 6 p.m. with cheese and charcuterie tasting. At 6 p.m. the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place with members from the City of Angels Camp and Angels Camp Mayor Wes Kulm. From 6 to 8 p.m. live music will be performed by Constant Rehearsal, with dessert and pastry tasting.

Market49, a multi-epicurean market offering a café bistro and smoke house BBQ, serves food made from scratch daily and houses an espresso bar and a beer and wine bar blending in harmony with an array of gourmet gifts and gadgets, large screen TVs and meeting space for small to medium-sized gatherings. "We love Angels Camp and are very excited to add such a diverse marketplace to the Historic District," said Tey Cross- Carpenter.

Owner of Acorn Farms, Janet Soest, and owner of TCL Chocolates, Tey Cross-Carpenter, along with their spouses, partnered to open Markey 49 in October. Since its soft opening, Market49 has added a weekend brunch and will open their Smoke House BBQ on Grand Opening Day. Open hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. You can reach Market49 by calling (209) 890-3326.

The Grand Opening ceremony is one of the services for new and expanding businesses offered by Destination Angels Camp, the economic development arm of the City of Angels. DAC’s all-volunteer board meets the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon at DAC headquarters, 1211 S. Main St., Suite 220, Angels Camp. Board meetings are open to the public.
