Last Chance to get your tickets for Chairs for Charity 2015 Chairs for Charity 2015 is being held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 ---time is running out!
San Andreas, CA...This unique fundraising event, a collaboration between the Calaveras Arts Council and the local Soroptimist club, runs from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the San Andreas Town Hall. The evening will feature art, music, a no-host bar, buffet dinner catered by the Pickle Patch, fabulous raffle baskets and other items. Julie Youngblood will host rousing rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs, a real crowd pleaser in the past. Terry Weatherby, our 2015 auctioneer, will bring fun, humor and help bidders to take home the perfect chair!
Tickets are $25. ADVANCE SALE ONLY. Call the Arts Council for tickets at 754-1774.
Local judges Lisa Bolton, Gary Linehan and Talibah Al-Rafiq chose which entries would go into the Live Auction. Ten unique chair works of art were selected. Those Live Auctions entries’ titles are: Ride ‘em Cowboy, Graffitti Afghan, Waiting for a Kiss, Take a Load Off in the Mother Lode, Spring Time, Oo La La Paris, We Are the Champions, Reading Chair, and Spider Web. Don’t the names alone make you want to buy that ticket NOW?
Silent auction chair works of art are as follows: Happy Old Chair, Got Milk? Just Stripes, Little Guy, Just Dance, Sunflower Shine, Waiting for 5 o-clock Somewhere, Rock of Ages, Harp Side Chair, Monkey Business and Little Trooper. In addition to chair entries, this year’s Silent Auction tables will also offer “other than chairs”. A condo stay in Napa, a B&B stay with theatre tickets and dining, a seascape by Murphys artist Terri Wilson, a County fly-over with Kathy Zancanella, a double magnum of Cabernet Sauvignon, other art offerings and a Calaveras County tour led by Judith Marvin will all be available with your winning Silent Auction bid. There is plenty to bid on & you might just take one of these “works of art” home with you.
The overflowing raffle baskets offer an abundance of valuable goods and services from the area. Hotel stays, dining certificates, jewelry, wines from local wineries, golf packages, beauty, glamour and health offerings, olive oils, county fair passes, snowmobile rides, a white water rafting trip and so, so much more is being offered.
All entries will continue to be on display at the Calaveras Arts Council Gallery, 22 Main Street, San Andreas, until the evening of Thursday, 1/29/15. They will be transported to the Town Hall on Friday morning.
