Human Remains Found at New Melones
Tuttletown, CA...On 10/27/14 about 09:30 A.M. personnel from the Bureau of Reclamation advised the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office of human remains found near the Tuttletown Launch Ramp. A citizen walking his dog near the water line found the remains. Detectives from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, the Coroners Unit and Patrol Deputies responded to the scene. A decomposed body was found still partially submerged in the water. Based on the level of decomposition, the body appears to have been in the water for well over a year. Due to the level of decomposition the gender of the deceased could not be determined at this time. The human remains were recovered and will be taken to a pathologist who will complete a forensic investigation in an effort to identify the deceased, obtain any information as to the cause of death, and the length of time the body has been in the water....
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division has opened an investigation into the matter. The investigation is in the very preliminary stages and no other information is available at this time.
