Sip and Shop at Winefest November 8 in Sutter Creek

Sutter Creek, CA...No doubt about it, people love drinking wine these days. An event is fast approaching that makes it super easy to find out which wines are the ones you really like. It’s the 2014 Winefest in Sutter Creek on Saturday evening of November 8. For 17 years wine drinkers have been attending this walk-about tasting event to savor the wineries of Amador County, all within 3 blocks of historic Main Street. There will be 23 participating shops, 9 tasting rooms, plus the Sutter Creek ...

Auditorium. That’s where to start out and that’s where to end up. In between, you take a short walk with your commemorative event wineglass and drop in and out of the shops, each designated with a different Amador vintner.

Your “ticket” to sip - prepaid for $25 in advance or $30 at the auditorium door - is a wristband and wine glass. They start to be issued at 4:00 pm and the tasting on quaint Main Street is from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. The fun continues back in the festively-decorated auditorium where live music by the “HalDunKen” trio accompanies the tasting of dessert wines and desserts from the renowned Ingrid's Elegant Cakes and the award-winning Plymouth restaurant Taste.

Also underway in the auditorium will be a “Mystery Wine in a Bag” auction and silent auctions of hundreds of items featuring Art, Wine, and More. For example, on the Premier Auction Table, bid on a Stay & Play Package for Jackson Rancheria (includes 2 tickets to Chicago Alliance Concert, deluxe room at hotel, $100 dining coupon and $25 slot pay,) or bid on a 2 night stay at Seascape Beach Resort in Santa Cruz. Other notable items: Private Tour & Tasting of Amador Distillery, a large selection of signed books by local authors, and handmade jewelry by local artists. The event is over by 8:30 pm.

By using a credit card through www.amadorarts.org , your printed PayPal receipt will be your ticket to save time at the auditorium’s check-in. These local locations have tickets to sell until the day before: Amador Council of Tourism Office in Sutter Hill; Sutter Creek Wine Tasting Shop; Clarks Corner in Ione, Dr.Curry's Dental Office in Plymouth, and Up Country Hardware in Pine Grove.

Proceeds of the Winefest provide much-needed funds for arts in education in local schools and in the community. AmadorArts is a non-profit organization that has been serving the county for 32 years. Visit www.amadorarts.org or phone 209-267-9038.
