County Administrative Officer Lori Norton Has Tendered Her Resignation

San Andreas, CA....Calaveas County CAO Lori Norton, tendered her resignation to the Board of Supervisors last night. They have accepted her resignation and according to Assistant CAO Shirley Ryan, it will be effective December 31st of this year and she will be on leave for a good portion of that time. An interim CAO will probably be named at the next board meeting...

Norton came to the county with over 25 years of experience in the public sector including having served as Deputy County Administrator of Sonoma County, Principal Analyst of Santa Barbara County, Principal Analyst of Ventura Regional Sanitation District, and Purchasing Manager for the City of Thousand Oaks. Norton has held key roles in budget and policy development, community and intergovernmental relations, strategic planning, organizational development and program management and review.

Now former CAO Norton had been serving the residents of Calaveras County since May of 2013.

Norton replaced John Blacklock, who served as Interim County Administrative Officer since January following the retirement of Jeanne Boyce who served in the position for 3 years.

WHAT A SHAME! Someone with her experience is hard to find. The Board of Sups will find it hard to replace her, but then without their support what do you expect! The Sups are too impressed with themselves, don't they know to do the job right it can't be a popularity contest!

From what I have seen of Lori, this is a big loss to our county government. She seemed competent, and certainly had a sense of humor, which anyone in that job would have to have.

Corrupt County

Perhaps she was sick of a Superior Court with biased judges, a village of idiots for Supervisors and a non existent Sheriff.

If by crazy you mean professional, ethical, and hard working I agree. A big loss for our county.

As a county employee, I feel this is a HUGE loss for the citizens of Calaveras. Mrs. Norton was cleaning up the mess left by her predecessor and incompetent department heads. Sad to see her leave!

Her performance review was on the Supervisor's Agenda of Sept 30. Kind of a coincidence that her resignation is announced the next day, isn't it?

Perhaps something the voters should keep in mind for the upcoming election...the Supes couldn't handle a competent CAO pointing out the County problems.

I am a 10 year employee. Lori is the first Administrator in that time to tackle some long standing department head performance problems. Those are probably the ones crying bully. I guess the expectation that you work for a paycheck would be bullying to them.
