Pinecrest Beach to Receive an Upgrade
Pinecrest, CA...The U.S. Forest Service will begin improvements to a highly-visited recreation area on the Summit Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest (STF), Sept. 29 through Oct. 31. Pinecrest Beach at the Pinecrest Day Use Area is receiving an upgrade that will enhance the beach and lake bed, creating a smoother surface by bringing in Alluvial sands from the Stanislaus River and removing rocks, boulders and tree stumps....
The public should be advised that large trucks and heavy equipment will be operating in the area, necessitating temporary closures of portions of the day use area (view map).
“The beach areas will not appear to be significantly altered, since native material is being placed,” said Tim Hughes, Facility Engineer, STF. “The biggest difference to the public will be in the recreation experience.”
The Pinecrest Beach improvement project is funded by PG&E as part of the requirements of their Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license. The work will be performed by a local contractor, Mountain Methods of Tuolumne, Calif.
