Calaveras, Tuolumne & Amador Artists Chosen to Show in KVIE Art Auction ...KVIE to Broadcast Award-Winning Art 9/19-9/21
Sacramento, CA.... Celebrating KVIE Public Television’s thirty-three years of creating an accessible venue to bring art into the homes of Northern Californians, the 2014 KVIE Art Auction will showcase over 250 works of art by emerging, well-known and world-renown Northern California artists. KVIE’s art curator, D Neath, has announced that several of the tri-county area artists who submitted their art to the annual juried competition were chosen to be included in KVIE’s Art Auction collection. One piece, submitted by Angels Camp artist MaryJean St Claire, received a juror award.....
The pieces accepted into the auction from Calaveras are: Dorothy Babinsky’s “Petunias” (Angels Camp); Ruth Morrow’s “Classy Dills” (Arnold); Susie Hoffman’s “Old World” (Copperopolis); Judy Cain’s “Winter Bright” (Murphys); and MaryJean St Claire’s “Reflections of Half Dome” (juror award, California’s Gold category; Angels Camp). All five of these pieces from Calaveras artists will air Saturday, Sept. 20, at approximately 4pm. From Amador County: John R Jurisich’s “Metropolis” (Pine Grove), airing Friday, Sept. 19, approx. 9pm and Michiyo Watanabe’s “Look Ma, No Tail” (Jackson), airing Saturday, Sept. 20, approx. 1:30pm. From Tuolumne County: Cary Bauer McGrew’s “Into the Woods” (Columbia), airing Saturday, 9/20 approx. 3pm; and Connie Cassinetto’s “Yosemite Firefall” (Sonora), airing Sunday, 9/21 approx. 2pm.
Each artist’s work will be showcased in a live 3-day auction broadcast on KVIE (ch. 6, check local listings) that starts Friday, September 19 from 7pm to 10pm and continues Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, from noon to 10pm.
“The 2014 KVIE Art Auction promises to be an exciting 3 days—with additions of ‘The Investment Hour’ as well as new art experts to help the collector navigate through more than 250 pieces of original art,” said Neath. “Viewers will have the opportunity to add to an art collection and to discover and learn about this area’s best-known and up-and-coming artists and galleries.”
A complete list of artists juried into the collection is online at kvie.org/artauction. Images and information on every piece of art up-for-bid (including air dates and times) will launch in September. An Awards Ceremony to announce the Best of Show and first place in each category will be held during the Preview Gala on Monday, Sept. 15, from 5:30 to 8pm. This event is sold out, but those interested may sign up on the waitlist at kvie.org/artauction.
This year’s auction is sponsored by The Niello Company, Ten22 Restaurant, and Warren G. Bender Co. Proceeds from the event and auction help support KVIE local productions and community outreach services.
