Sausage & Pesto Fest Celebrates New Releases At Hovey
Murphys, August 17, 2014 – Hovey Winery, 350 A Main St., Murphys, celebrates the release of its 2012 Zinfandel and 2013 Sangiovese Rose on the lawn with a Sausage and Pesto Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31 of Labor Day Weekend....

The menu, crafted by Chef Skye Ruggieri, begins with grilled Portobello mushrooms on rosemary skewers, locally-grown cherry tomato bruschetta on crostini and flat bread topped with mission figs, goat cheese and Prosciutto drizzled with local honey. The buffet dinner features four types of Lockeford Sausages paired with four handmade pesto sauces – summer basil herb, lemon artichoke, cilantro jalapeno with lime and sun dried tomato with roasted red pepper. Dinner also includes penne pasta with homemade Marinara sauce, chopped mixed salad, assorted breads and triple chocolate brownies with whipped cream for dessert.
“Last year the event was a sell-out, and we’re looking so forward to sharing and pairing this fantastic meal with our wine,” said Chuck Hovey. “This is the first time we’ve released a Rose-style wine, and it’s flying out the door.”
Cost of $40 includes appetizers, dinner, glass of wine, tax and gratuities. Additional wine, for all current releases, is available at a discounted $5 per glass, along with special one-night case pricing.
