Arnold, CA...D. Harold Denny passed peacefully from pneumonia on Sunday afternoon, August 3, 2014. Sharon, his wife of 41 years, held his hand. He was 82. Harold was born Dimner Harold Denny in Vancouver, Washington in 1932 to Eva and Dimner Denny. He later married Marilyn Morley and together they had two daughters, Susan Denny Baker and Melinda Denny Meyer. In 1973, Harold married Sharon Onslow Sanders. As a new step-father to Sharon's eight children they made a home in San Jose, California where he worked for Pacific Bell until he retired in 1982...
On a camping trip in 1980, Harold and Sharon fell in love with Arnold, California, so much so that they purchased property certain that they would someday live there. Sure enough, only two years later they moved to the Sierras with their four youngest children and built their home.
After transplanting to Arnold, Harold and Sharon joined Rick and Monica Smithers as co-owners of Ponderosa Interiors. Ultimately, they retired focusing on the mountain lifestyle and their many grandchildren- Sarah Baker, Jeffrey Baker, Stephen Meyer, Lauren Meyer, Mikaela Tate, Zachary Tate, Parker Davidson, Harley Davidson, Lucky Pendelton, Juliet Sanders, Atticus Perry, Lily Sanders, London Sanders, Roman Perry, and new great-grandchild Russell Meyer.
Harold is survived by wife Sharon and nine children- Susan Baker, Melinda Meyer, Christopher Sanders, Craig Sanders, Brian Sanders, Maria Sanders Oldham, Kara Sanders, Damian Sanders, Darcy Sanders Perry. Son Derek Sanders passed in 1992.
Besides his interest in family, Harold was a self-made handyman, ardent firewood collector, and expert fisherman- essential skills for life in the mountains. He also posessed a natural talent cooking for large groups, indoors or out, and his gardening prowess resulted in fresh produce right from their backyard.
Finally, Harold proudly cheered the SF Giants to win the 2010 World Series pendant and even continued to stand by them until the end.
The family would like express their warmest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas for their tireless and compassionate attention to Harold during his final days.
