Driver Of Silver Porsche In Pursuit Caught

Sonora, CA...On 07/31/2014 at approximately 0843 hours, Sonora CHP, Officer M. McDaniel, ID 19287, was in full uniform and driving a marked black and white CHP patrol vehicle. Officer McDaniel was stopped on the north shoulder of State Route 108 west of Twain Harte Drive monitoring traffic and observed a silver Porsche traveling westbound on State Route 108 approaching his location. The officer noticed the Porsche had a paper dealer plate displayed to the rear which matched the description of a vehicle that fled a Tuolumne County S.O. on 07/30/2014. The officer positioned the patrol vehicle to the rear of the Porsche which had its convertible top down. The officer observed the driver to be a white male approximately 40 years of age with curly light brown hair with a dark haired passenger in the right front seat. As the Porsche turned north onto Soulsbyville Road, the officer activated the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights. The Porsche then turned into a Chevron gas station located on Soulsbyville Road and then rapidly accelerated through the parking lot. The Porsche nearly collided with several people standing outside of their vehicles before exiting the parking lot and traveled southbound on Soulsbyville Road at a high rate of speed...

The Porsche turned eastbound onto State Route 108 failing to stop at the red traffic signal. The Porsche accelerated to approximately 90 miles per hour in this 65 mile per hour zone on State Route 108. As the Porsche approached two vehicles traveling side by side in the number one and number two lanes, it traveled to the left of the solid yellow line in order to pass the vehicle traveling in the number one lane. The Porsche turned eastbound onto Twain Harte drive and then westbound onto Hunts Road.

Officer McDaniel lost sight of the Porsche while traveling westbound on Hunts Road and cancelled the pursuit. With some great investigation work by the CHP, we were able to locate who the registered owner of the vehicle was and confirm he was the driver of the Porsche at the time of the pursuit. Sonora CHP contacted the Modesto CHP office and requested units to go to his residence. As units were on scene the vehicle driven by Tracy Mccarroll pulled into the driveway. The Modesto CHP units arrested Mccarroll and Officer McDainel transported him back to Tuolumne County for felony evading charges and also a warrant.
