Hundreds Turn Out To Say Goodbye To Tyler Paul “Taffy” Tafjen,

Angels Camp - Copperopolis, CA....Last Wednesday the Angels Gun Club was filled with many from the community as they said Goodbye to Tyler Paul “Taffy” Tafjen, 16, who passed away in his home on July 8, 2014. His friends and family can take comfort is that he was loved and will be missed by a great many in our small foothill communities...

We attended and took a few photos because we hope that as time passes and the immediate and unthinkable pain passes that people can look back and know his life will always be a part of many.

It was a wonderful service and provided another example of how our communities embrace those who are suffering. Some mementos of his life including his Jeep, fishing gear and more were on display. After the service a 21 gun salute for a young man who loved, baseball, his friends and the outdoors.

What was the tipping point for a young man with an entire promising life ahead of him to take his own life? None of us will ever know. There has been and will probably continue to be speculation.

There has been much discussed about his phone. It was also confirmed at his celebration of life that it may have been a factor.

Without knowing the details of this case we spoke with a local computer expert and some of these Ransomware intrusions on desktop and now mobile devices are increasingly insidious and their blackmail techniques beyond criminal.

They count on preying on the emotions of the owners of the devices they infect with the goal to extort money. In the unlikelihood that the individuals can be located who are behind this infection a charge of negligent homicide would seem warranted.

It is also a tragic reminder that life is a very precious thing and that nothing on a phone or a computer has any value compared to the incomparable gift of a promising young life.

Rest In Peace Young Man! You will be missed!!
