Annual Tomato Tasting Contest at the Sutter Creek Farmer's Market!
Sutter Creek, Ca...The UCCE Master Gardeners of Amador County are hosting their annual Tomato Tasting Contest on Saturday, August 23 at the Sutter Creek Farmers Market at 10:00. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Biggest Tomato, Best Red Tomato, Best Non-Red Tomato, and Best Cherry Tomato. To participate, bring at least one washed tomato of each variety (at least five cherry tomatoes) to the Sutter Creek Farmers Market between 8:45-9:45 on Saturday morning, August 23. The judges will announce their favorites at 11:00 am. Admission is free.
Start planning next year’s garden based on which tomatoes tantalize your taste buds! After the judges finish their scoring, join us for the public tasting for the joy of savoring a huge variety of tomatoes, from tiny grape-size tomatoes to giants the size of grapefruits.
