Wines of the World at the Historic Murphys Hotel, June 12th, 2014
Murphys, Ca...Join us on the lawn at the Historic Murphys Hotel at 5:30pm for a wine and cheese pairing class with Judy Creighton. Judy will present cheese with award winning wines from the 2014 Professional Wine Competition at the Calaveras County Fair. Wines of the World is an integral part of the wine associations educational program. Cost for CWA members is $20 and $25 for non-members, ($5 more than our usual pairing as we are providing cheese). Judy Creighton has been teaching cheese classes in San Francisco for nearly 30 years. With her experience as owner of two cheese shops, she offers a wealth of knowledge and perspective about American and international cheeses. She is currently Core Instructor at the Cheese School of San Francisco where she teaches a variety of topics. She also provides educational programs for retailers and presents private wine and cheese pairing events at local wineries. She still considers herself a cheesemonger and loves teaching about the wonders of cheese.

The week-end kicks-off on Friday night with a concert in Murphys Park, the heart of Calaveras County. Bring a folding chair and a couple of blankets to settle in for a night of swing music by the band Swing Gitane. Wines by the glass and food will be available for purchase. Friday, June 20, 6:00 pm, Murphys Park. No ticket required. You will not be able to pick up your glass at the park. Paul’s Rustic Oven pizza will join us, serving hot, gourmet personal pizzas. No ticket required.
Spend the weekend chatting with your favorite winery staff while sampling their latest releases, or attend a wine appreciation, wine making, wine blending, food pairing, cheese or charcuterie workshop. Full event schedule posted above. Tickets for this event are $40 and include a commemorative wine glass.
Please note that food pairings are not included with your Behind the Bottle ticket purchase, it is up to the participating wineries whether they will offer food. For a list of participating wineries please see our directory page. Tickets/Glass for the event will be sold Saturday and Sunday at the following locations: Chatom Vineyards, The Calaveras Visitors Bureau, Brice Station, and Frog’s Tooth Winery. It is recommended that you purchase your tickets in advance as tickets will sell out!

The Vineyard Tour is open to the public. The BBQ is for CWA members, CWA associate members, and guests of Calaveras Winegrape Alliance. Please park at Murphys Park to take the shuttle. BBQ will be held at Murphys Park.
The Vineyard Tour is an educational program and is open to the public. At each stop there will be general discussion about the vineyard operation, followed by a question and answer session regarding specific pest management, irrigation, fertilization, and other cultural practices. A general wrap-up of the day will be given at the evening BBQ.
