Delays On Hwy 99 In Merced Next Week
Merced County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has rescheduled the full closure for the State Route 99 (SR-99) East Merced Overhead Project for next week. The work was originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, through Friday, April 25, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m....
However, crews will now close northbound SR-99 from SR-140 (near 16th Street) to G Street for road construction and bridge activities beginning Tuesday, April 29, 2014, through Friday, May 2, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
Motorists should expect 15 minute delays. A signed detour is in place and alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.
Construction is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues.
This work is part of the $32.4 million SR-99 East Merced Overhead Project which began on June 11, 2012. The project will replace the bridge decks on the 15th Street Undercrossing and the East Merced Overhead Structures. The project will also bring the bridge widths and bridge rails to current standards; install a concrete median barrier; provide standard shoulder widths; and upgrade the existing guard rails and bridge approach rails.
