The Calaveras Community Foundation to Aid Other County Groups in Continuing Their Good Work With 2007 Grants~From Sal Manna
Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) will help bring meals to seniors, cultural experiences to students and transportation to needy senior, low-income and disabled residents with the announcement today by Board President Susan Crosson of its second and final round of 2007 grants. Common Ground Senior Services, the Calaveras Arts Council and the Volunteer Center of Calaveras County join the previously announced recipients of 2007 grants--the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, Calaveras Children’s Dental Project, Mountain Ranch Community School and Calaveras High Band Boosters....

Thanks to the generous major sponsors of the Foundation’s 20th Annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament at La Contenta this past May--Jackson Rancheria, Umpqua Bank, Chatom Vineyards, Firefall Jewelers and American Home Mortgage--the CCF was able to raise its grant funding 20 percent higher than the previous year. The nonprofit CCF, the only countywide philanthropic organization serving residents from children to seniors in areas from health and education to the arts, has awarded more than $175,000 in grants and scholarships to more than 60 civic groups since 2001.
Volunteer Center of Calaveras County: The CCF grant will help continue services for a “safety net” transportation program for senior, handicapped and low-income residents.
Common Ground Senior Services: The CCF grant will allow Common Ground to continue meeting the nutritional needs of seniors with home delivered and other meals.
Calaveras Arts Council: The CCF grant will aid in continuing to bring performing artists in the Ovations Series to elementary and middle schools.
“Along with granting funds to new projects, the CCF wants to support the efforts of those groups that are up and running but in need of funds,” said Crosson, noting that 27 proposals, a 50 percent increase from the previous year, requested a total of $114,000. “We hope we can contribute to helping these groups further accomplish their goals.”
