Bret Harte HS Swim Teams Splits Victory With Linden
Angels Camp, CA ... Bret Harte High School Swim Team competed at Linden, CA last Friday. The Boys Team came home victorious, beating Linden 92-78 while the Girls Team made a good showing against the clock but lost the meet 90-80."Bret Harte swam a great meet. It was a very fun and exciting meet to watch and coach," said Coach Lauren Gerber. "The Linden and Bret Harte Girls teams are very evenly stacked and it makes for a great competition, with lots of close and fast races. Swim meets this close are extremely exciting to watch as second and third places make or break the end result of these meets." Coach Gerber continued,"We are very proud of the way our girls fought and a lot of personal records were swam by way of a great contest. The boys swam great as well, as they continue their undefeated season with very good swims and solid relays."
Standout swims include a first place swim by Junior Shelby Warner taking four seconds of her previous personal record in the 200 yard freestyle. Sophomore Brennan Thompson beat out a very fast heat of 50 freestylers for a first place. Bethanni Riedel continues to drop time off her 500 freestyle and took first place, a full 17 seconds before the next Ouopponent. And sophomore Austin Qualls continues to be one of the strongest breastrokers in the league, taking first in the 100 breastroke. The next meet is a Double Dual meet in Jackson, Friday, April 4 versus Amador and Argonaut High Schools.
