Andrew Paul Ballantyne September 28, 1930 - March 20, 2014

Valley Springs, CA ... Andrew Paul Ballantyne was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio. After graduating from high school he trained with the 101st Airborne to fight in the Korean War. Mr. Ballantyne continued to support his fellow veterans and served as the general manager for the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial District, was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. and supported the American Legion Boys State and Boy Scouts. He died March 20, 2014 of heart failure at Doctors Hospital in Modesto. He worked for AT&T for 35 years.


He enjoyed salmon and bass fishing, gold mining and working with veterans. Mr. Ballantyne is survived by his children, Robert Ballantyne of Ceres, Jill Ballantyne of Valley Springs and Mike Ballantyne of Massillon, Ohio; three grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Skyes of Glendale, Ariz. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Elaine Ballantyne.A funeral was be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the American Legion Hall in Valley Springs with burial to followed at 9 a.m. Thursday, at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial District.
