Vehicular Manslaughter Charges for Sunnyvale Man in Death of Kevin Gong, 22 of Stockton in Hwy 120 Accident ( Update..Name of Victim Released)
Groveland, CA...(Updated Kevin Gong, 22 from Stockton passed away in this incident) This afternoon a 70 year old Groveland woman was traveling eastbound on Hwy 120 east of Old Hwy 120 at 50-55mph in a Chevy Silverdo. A 22 year old Sunnyvale man was traveling westbound on Hwy 120 at a high rate of speed in a Toyota Camry. He was passing an unknown vehicle right after the end of the broken yellow lines going westbound in the eastbound lane. There was not enough time for either driver to avoid a head on collision. The Camry's passenger died at the scene and the 22 year old driver is being charged with vehicular manslaughter...
The 70 year old Groveland woman was flown to Memorial North with major injuries and the Sunnyvale man was flow to Doctors Hospital with major injuries.
At this time drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor and the Sonora CHP Office is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the accident. They can be reached at 209.984.3944
This accident closed Hwy 120 for over 2hrs this afternoon.
