Calaveras County, CA...My name is Dana Pfeil and I am running for Superior Court Judge Department One. Department One handles all criminal cases in Calaveras County. As a prosecutor with over a decade of experience advocating for justice on behalf of the People of the State of California, I have the practical and legal experience it takes to deliver justice as your next Superior Court Judge....

With my criminal courtroom experience, I bring with me an understanding of criminal law and procedure that takes years to master. A judge presiding over criminal cases must have this training and experience to decide issues of life, liberty and public safety with confidence. Prosecutors are uniquely situated as we deal with these issues every day. I would be honored to follow in the footsteps of other esteemed judges who have transitioned directly from the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office to the bench such as John Martin, Douglas Mewhinney and Orrin Airola.
As a prosecutor I have successfully conducted dozens of jury trials. I have prosecuted murder, domestic violence, rape, child molestation, arson, drug offenses, embezzlement, three strikes cases, vehicular homicide and burglary. I have handled juvenile and dependency cases. I have handled hundreds of contested court hearings and made charging decisions in thousands of cases. On a daily basis I judge the credibility of witnesses, protect the Constitutional rights of citizens and seek justice.
As a judge, I will approach decision making with the same characteristics I use daily as a trial attorney: with honesty, fairness, and doing what is right under the law. If elected I will continue to treat litigants with dignity and respect. I am dedicated to justice and proud to serve the residents of Calaveras County.
I ask for your vote on June 3, 2014.
