Clothing, Shoes and Household Textiles Recycling Program

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Department of Public Works, Integrated Waste Management is pleased to announce that we have partnered with U’SAgain to recycle household clothing, shoes and textiles. U’SAgain is a for-profit enterprise promoting recycling and the responsible reuse of clothes, shoes and household textiles. U’SAgain is dedicated to helping the environment by extending the life of clothes and keeping them out of landfills. Clothing, shoes and textiles should no longer be placed in the trash...

Textiles that can be placed in the recycling bins include all clothing, shoes and other household textiles as listed below. The textiles can be of any condition whether soiled, stained or torn. All materials must be clean and dry; and dropped off in tied plastic bags. A sturdy plastic bag protects the clothes from dirt and simplifies handling.

All clothing, regardless of their condition, includes, but is not limited to:
Pants, shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses
Jackets, coats
Shorts, t-shirts
Underwear, socks, bras and slips
Hats, mittens, gloves, scarves
Shoes, sneakers, flip-flops
Bedding, sheets, pillows, blankets, table linens
Belts, purses
Robes, slippers
Shower curtains, drapes
Towels, washcloths
Stuffed animals
Yarn, cut cloth

The following are not acceptable in the textile recycling bins: Wet materials, mattresses, furniture, appliances, carpet, toys & trash. Please do not place any items outside of the bins.

Most plastic toys are recyclable and can be placed in your mixed recycling.
Mattresses and furniture should be taken to Rock Creek for disposal.
The County participates in a recycling program for carpeting and padding at the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility and there are 4 locations to recycle your appliances.
