Elmer “Sonny” Arlando Smith, Jr. 1936 - 2014

San Andreas, CA...Elmer “Sonny” Arlando Smith, Jr., 78, passed away February 25, 2014 in Modesto. Born February 2, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elmer Arlando Smith, Sr. and Cliva Iva (Bennett) Smith. Sonny married Roxanne Marsh on March 30, 1979 in Patterson, CA. Later the marriage was solemnized in the Denver Temple. Sonny was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sonny had a lot of different jobs throughout his life; mailman, truck driver, horse trainer, a chef for the Kansas City Club, gas station attendant and auto repairman, a semi-pro boxer, Pro-Rodeo cowboy, rancher and his most rewarding job was being a father and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors and all it had to offer. He was loved by many and will be missed by family and friends....





Mr. Smith is survived by his wife: Roxanne, Modesto; sister: Ola Mae Storer, Apple Valley, CA; nine children; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer Arlando Smith, Sr. and Cliva Iva (Bennett) Smith; former spouse: Dolores Lee Smith; sisters: Bettie Jean Montero, Pauline Blythe, Dorothy Lee Humphry, Loucille Moarias; brother: Aron Eldon Barker, Jimmie Lee Smith; son: Muril Alexander Smith; daughter: Brenda Sue Ansley.

Funeral services Saturday March 1, 2014, 10 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in San Andreas, 221 Church Hill Rd, San Andreas, CA. Friends call at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in San Andreas, Saturday March 1, 2014 9:30-9:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Double Springs Cemetery, Valley Springs.
