Move Over, Follies… Calaveras Mentoring Foundation Announces A Brand New Springtime Fundraiser!
Angels Camp, CA...“A One, And A Two, And A One-Two-Three-Four…”. It’s time to don your dance duds and step out for a swingin’ good time at the Spring Swing, a brand new event presented by the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation to raise funds for the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program. Spring Swing will take place Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys and will feature dinner and dancing to the Big Band sounds of Rod Harris and the Columbia Kicks in a fun-filled evening with a live auction, a treasure chest key raffle, a live 'jukebox' and a contemporary twist on "dime-a-dance" girls....
“We asked some of our biggest Calaveras Follies fans what they would enjoy as a new event, and they told us that something a bit more casual, but still with great entertainment, would be the best direction to take,” said Peggy Lucas, president of the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation. “Springtime brings renewed energy, and we know that lots of people love to dance or listen to great live music, so we created an opportunity for folks to come out for a fun, relaxed but festive dinner-dance while supporting one of our county’s best programs for youth.”
Community members and businesses can support the Spring Swing as sponsors at levels ranging from $250 to $5,000. Reservations for the event are $75 per person for a delicious multi-station buffet dinner and dancing, and an evening packed with entertaining and fun activities. The excitement will include eye-popping demonstration dances by accomplished local -- and visiting professional -- dancers who will be ‘for hire’ to teach or just dance with guests who want to look really good on the dance floor. Patrons can ‘command the band’ to play their favorite songs to impress that special someone. The live auction has already attracted highly desirable adventures including a Sea Ranch getaway, and Yosemite Wine Dinner. And the lucky key-holder who unlocks the treasure chest will be off to Hawaii on a two-week dance-themed cruise for two!
Spring Swing reservations and 100 keys to the treasure chest are available through calaverasmentoring.org/springswing or by contacting the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation at 209-736-7706 or calaverasmentoringfoundation@gmail.com. (Key-holders need not be present at the event to win.) Interested sponsors should contact Donna Shannon, sponsorship coordinator, at 209-754-4997.
