What’s Happening in Murphys this Week January21 through January 30

Murphys, CA....Wine Down Friday @ Stevenot - Each first Friday of each month from 5-8 pm Stevenot hosts "Wine Down Friday" in the Tasting Room on Main St. Murphys. This is an opportunity to meet the owners and staff while enjoying Stevenot Wines by the glass, party platters, and live music. Call 209-728-3485 for more information....





January at Art on Main - The featured artist for this month will be Charlotte Manhood. The work of Dick Bradford and Marlene Bradford (local wood turner and clay artist) are now part of the regular display at Art on Main. We also welcome new artists Steve and Therese May who create beautiful, wearable fiber art. Now is a great time to stop by and see all the new displays that went up on January 7th.

January Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - The impeccable watercolor paintings of Dave Gano depicting the many wonders of the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway will be showcased during the month of January at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception in his honor will be held Sunday, Jan. 5 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with complimentary appetizers and wine available by the glass for $5.The tasting room is open daily from noon to 5:30 p.m.

Tuesdays in January - Once again, January is "Beer Month" at Alchemy, with optional 4-course paired beer menus available on Tuesday nights from 4:30-7:30. We still have lots of great Winter beers in stock, but once they are gone, you will have to wait until next holiday season to try them again. The next Beer Dinner is January 28 from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm... Call 209.728.0700 for reservations.

Thursdays in Murphys - Romantic Dinners for Two with Live Music at Angelos Steakhouse Italiano. Nicholas Lefler plays on Thursdays from 7-9 pm. Call 209-728-9200 for more information.

Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food & Wine Tours - Join Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 2:30 pm. Each tour is a approximately three and a half hours. You’ll get the inside story about the area’s rough-and-tumble past. Purchase tickets by calling 800-407-8918 directly. Private group tours are available by appointment. Fridays at Alchemy - Matt Cullen Delivers style with pop, country and jazz vocal performances every Friday on the patio from 5:30-8 pm. The music is free, and there's room to dance. Call 209-728-0700 or visit www.mattcullenonline.com for more information.

Fridays and Saturdays at Zucca Tasting Room - "Zucca After Hours" is open 5-8 pm. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday night, the Zucca garden is your place. All those firepits are even better to sit by on a cool winter evening. And we always welcome your picnic items or takeout from area restaurants should you want to make a night of it."

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.

January 23, 2013 - MBA Mixer at Art on Main - Join the MBA at 5:30 pm at Art on Main for our quarterly mixer. It's a great chance to catch up with your neighboring business owners and meet new people. All business owners, staff and guests are welcome to attend. The MBA provides the drinks and the music, Art on Main will provide the place and we encourage everyone to bring an appetizer or bottle of wine to share.

January 25-26, 2014 - Artist Showing at Atman Studios - Atman Metal Arts In partnership with Martin Studio presents an exhibit of drawings and prints by Marshall Weber of Brooklyn, New York. January 28, 2013 - Moroccan Cooking Class at Marisolio - Our Moroccan class will be taught by our very-much-missed former Marisolio employee, Carol Hogan, who recently returned from Morocco. She will share with us why Moroccan cooking is one of the most important cuisines in the world and will demonstrate the use of the tagine, a North African cooking vessel. January 28, 2013 - Calaveras County Women’s Network Meeting at Ironstone Vineyards. All business women in Calaveras County are invited and welcome. CCWN offers an opportunity to network with other business women and share ideas. This month’s meeting features Terry McBride of McBride Consulting who will be presenting an overview of 2014, year of the Wood Horse and its potential effect with a mini-BaZi reading and Feng Shui tips for 2014 starts at 5:30pm.
