THE ASSOCIATION
Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort is excited to welcome The Association to our Grand Oak Ballroom stage on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
The Association was formed in 1965 after an electric folk group, The Men, had disbanded. The six members of the newly founded The Association rehearsed for months before performing in nightclubs, coffeehouses, high schools, colleges, proms and parties throughout Southern California. Due to their large fan base in Los Angeles, The Association's first album topped the charts with their songs "Along Comes Mary" and "Cherish." Through their dedication and hard work, The Association became the first electric rock'n'roll group to perform at Hollywood's Greek Theatre, the Copacabana, Blossom Music Festival and was given the honor to open the first international pop festival in America, The Monterey Pop Festival. The Association appeared on every major 60's television variety show and has performed in every state in the United States, along with most Canadian provinces, Athens, South America and Bermuda. Their expansive performance history and fame has put their songs "Never My Love," "Windy," and "Cherish" were among the Top 100 Most Played Songs of All Time. Herb Boxhorn, guitarist and vocalist, brings his own unique styles combining his background of folk, blues, finger-picking, Jazz and Latin into an eclectic mix truly his own. Performing regionally for over 30 years, Herb puts his signature on many Jazz standards and contemporary tunes.
Enriching the sounds of this duo is saxophonist, Klaudia Promessi. Klaudia has toured and performed in bay area bands playing Latin Jazz , R and B, Soul and original music. She composes and arranges music and records for films.
The sound this duo delivers invites the audience to share in the enjoyment of the music making!
