The San Andreas Community Park is Now The Alex "JR" Quinones Community Ball Park In Honor of His Memory
San Andreas, CA...One of the first items on the agenda at yesterday's Supervisor Meeting was to approve the resolution to approve the San Andreas Recreation and Park District request to rename the San Andreas Community Park to Alex "JR" Quinones Community Ball Park. This was done to honor his memory and his decades community efforts. On February 24, 2013 the Board of the San Andreas Recreation and Park District voted unanimously to request that the Board of Supervisors of Calaveras County rename the San Andreas Community Park to the Alex "JR" Quinones Community Ball Park. This is the first time that the Board of Supervisors had been asked to rename a County owned facility. As there was no existing policy regarding renaming or naming in memorial a County facility the now Alex "JR" Quinones Community Ball Park broke new ground on the policy front as well....

Alex Quinones was very instrumental in making the San Andreas Community Park the community park for three decades. He installed the electrical systems and maintained them during that time. Alex was the first to request the help of CalFire crews from Vallecito Camp to help maintain and continue to develop the park.
Alex dedicated his adult life to volunteering. He gave many volunteer hours to San Andreas Recreation and Park District not only for the San Andreas Community Park but also Turner Park and the San Andreas Town Hall.
San Andreas Recreation and Park District raised funds to purchase and install the new sign so there were no additional costs incurred by the county
