g. Agreement Between CUSD and Rusty’s Gunsmithing
Board approval is recommended for a service agreement between CUSD’s ROP Police Science at Calaveras High School and Rusty’s Gunsmithing, to store the ROP Police Science equipment off campus. The service is provided gratis.
h. Overnight Events/Field Trips
It is recommended the Board approve the following overnight events/field trips:
1. Relay for Life, Toyon Middle School
Approve overnight event for Toyon Middle School students to participate in the Relay for Life at the Bret Harte High School field on April 26 through 27, 2014. TMS teacher Dustyn will be on-site for 24-hours. Parents will drive students to the event. There is no cost.
2. San Andreas Elementary Science Camp
San Andreas Elementary’s 6th graders will attend Science Camp with Rail Road Flat and Mokelumne Hill Elementary students at Walker Creek Ranch in Petaluma, California, January 14 through 17, 2014. Transportation will be provided by CUSD school buses and teacher Shari Pargett will be a chaperone. This is paid through personal funding.

Overnight Events/Field Trips
3. Valley Springs Elementary Science Camp
Valley Springs Elementary 6th graders will attend science camp at Walker Creek Ranch in Petaluma, California, on January 14-17, 2014. Transportation will be provided by CUSD school buses and teacher Stacy Carter will chaperone. This is site funded.
4. Volleyball Overnight Event – Calaveras High School
The Calaveras High School’s volleyball team would like to have a sleepover on Tuesday, October 8, following their home volleyball match. It would take place in the Brown Gym and will occur from approximately 9:00 p.m. on October 8 through 8:00 a.m. on October 9, 2013. This is during fall break so no students or classes will be affected by this event. Teachers Cece Baseman and Mikki Koepp will chaperone.
5. Future Farmers of America (FFA) Events – Calaveras High School
a) Chapter Officer Leadership Conference
Eight students to attend FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Conference to gain skills and bring ideas back to the chapter. Hosted by the FFA Central Chapter on October 5-6, 2013. Transportation will be by the CHS school truck. Teachers Abigail Ferrell and Jason Weatherby will chaperone. Funded by FFA.
b) Made for Excellence and Advanced Leadership Academy
Twelve students to attend the Made for Excellence and Advanced Leadership Academy to assist students in gaining leadership skills, public speaking skills and more. This is hosted by the California FFA on February 7-8, 2014. Accommodations will be at a Hotel in Modesto. Transportation will be by the CHS school truck. Teachers Abigail Ferrell and Jason Weatherby will chaperone. Funded by FFA.
c) California State FFA Conference
Twelve students to attend the California State FFA Conference. They will attend workshops, sessions and experience all California FFA has to offer. This is hosted by the California FFA in Fresno on April 11-15, 2014. Accommodations will be in a motel. Transportation will be by the CHS school truck. Teachers Abigail Ferrell and Jason Weatherby will chaperone. Funded by FFA.

1) Tentative Agreement (TA) Between the District and the California School Employees’ Association (CSEA), Chapter 405
Requested Action: The Board of Education of the Calaveras Unified School District
conducts a public hearing and adopts the tentative agreement
and the related public disclosure documents (AB1200 Fiscal Disclosure attached – pp 20-24.)
Background: On August 8, 2013 the District and CSEA reached a Tentative Agreement for salary and benefits changes for the 2013-2016 CSEA Successor Agreement (pp 25-26). On August 22, 2013 CSEA ratified the Tentative Agreement. This will result in a $100 increase to the medical benefit cap for bargaining unit members who work 5.1 or more hours effective August 1, 2013. Bargaining unit members who are eligible for the full district-paid medical cap and participate in medical benefits will receive the difference between the member’s contribution and the district-paid cap, not to exceed the district-paid cap. A 1.7% salary increase to the classified and paraeducator salary schedules, Food Service III will be elevated from Range B to Range C, and other articles as defined in the attached tentative agreement.
