France showcased at July Wines of the World
Murphys, CA... “ A Mediterranean Coastal Tour of Laungedoc, Rhone Valley, & Provence ”
The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance will host its monthly Wines of the World, Thursday, July 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. At the Murphys Historic Hotel in Murphys, at 5:30pm. Our theme will be wines from the coast of France. Join Tom Bender, Columbia College Wine Instructor, as he takes us on a tour of the Mediterranean! ...
Wine grapes from the Laungedoc region, thanks to long hours in the summer sun, ripen well and quickly. Which means that the wines they produce are rich and full bodied, often having a high alcohol content. Rhone tends to produce varietals such as floral Viognier, Syrah and Grenache, while Provence has become known for rose'.
Wines of the World is an integral part of the wine associations educational program. Cost for CWA members is $15 and $25 for non members. For more information, call 209-728-9467 or visit on-line at calaveraswines.org. The Historic Murphys Hotel was recently filmed for an episode of Hotel Hell on the Fox Network and will air in Fall of 2013.
