Irish Day 2013 Parade and People In Murphys (Updated With Video)
Murphys, CA...We have about 400 photos in our photo album from this years Irish Day. It was a great day for one of the Coolest Small Towns in America and believe it or not according to some publications the only town in California deemed worthy of a retirement destination. The photos were taken in the morning of and right after the parade and a second batch as the day was winding down. These photos from later in the day contain many of the individual and people shots and action and parade shots are later in the album. Video of the parade is enclosed as well quite a few random clips. Local Kids dancing the Plan B Jig, Bag Pipes, Irish Hip Hop and more....
Some other take aways from the event is the MBA should be given high marks!!! With the booth spacing, shuttle stop behind Alchemy and other tweaks the crowds were more evenly dispersed than in some years.
This was especially noticed right after the parade when the crowds were so thick from the north end completely to the south end of town. We walked the entire event length just before noon and the crowds were so thick at this time that the town was filled and overflowing. We passed Ironstone to see how may were making use of the shuttle this year and their lots were filled enough that it looked like a concert weekend.
One of the organizers said one year that temps were in the 80s was much larger. While this may not have been the largest crowd ever it still ranked as one of the busiest Irish Day events ever. Even with that this year seemed to run like a smooth and well oiled machine. Several thousand additional visitors could have filled the area and everyone still would have had a good time.
