Do You Have A High School Senior in Your House? The Calaveras Visitors Bureau Scholorship Deadline is Feb 15
Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) recently announced that it will provide $2,000 in scholarships this year to area high school students as part of its new Travel Writing Scholarship program. Aimed at encouraging interest in tourism marketing, the first-ever CVB Travel Writing Scholarship, challenges local students to create a 400-750 word blog post, with photos, to entice visitors to the area. Applications are available in each district. Students interested in applying for the scholarship can pick up the necessary paperwork from Carla Rolleri at Bret Harte or Terri Tanner at Calaveras. Applications and blog posts are due by February 15, 2013 to be considered for the scholarship. Winners will be selected and announced by March 1, 2013.
“We’re excited to get students interested in tourism marketing and involved with the CVB since attracting visitors to our area is responsible for so much of our local economy,” said Lisa Boulton, Executive Director of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau. “Additionally, it’s a great opportunity for students who are interested in journalism and marketing to explore these career paths before heading off to college, as well as build their portfolios for future job opportunities.”
