White Pines, CA 16 year old, Murphys resident, Alex Munoz installed four new picnic benches on the beach at White Pines Park Saturday as part of becoming an Eagle Scout. Munoz who has been a scout since he was six approached the White Pines Park volunteers to get his project authorized and then solicited material to build the benches from local merchants including Ebbetts Pass Lumber, Calaveras Lumber, Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods and Ace Hardware. “I’ve been coming to this park since I was little Munoz said, and I saw there was a need for more benches and the ones that were here needed some repair.”

The Arnold Boy Scouts started in 2002, but scouting has been in the area since the 60s. The troop is part of the Mt. Diablo District. The troop often goes to the Boy Scout camp up at Wolf Borough to work on their merit badges including, mountaineering, rock climbing, Swimming and Archery.
Alex who also has a love for cooking says that one day he may become a chef. He specializes in breakfast and says he makes Eggs Benedict. Munoz also enjoys working on computers.
