Christmas Delights in Jackson

Jackson, CA...Gather up the family, invite your friends and neighbors, and join the community as the spirit of the holidays brightens downtown Jackson, California’s annual Christmas Delights Open House! The festivities will be held on the evenings of Thanksgiving Day weekend, Friday and Saturday, November 23 and 24 from 6-9 p.m....

Meet in front of the Jackson Fire Department at 6 pm Friday for Santa’s traditional lighting of the town Christmas tree and antique fire truck ride down Main Street to the newly renovated historic National Hotel. Santa will be in the hotel lobby for visits and photos from 6-9 pm Friday and Saturday, and Meghan O’Keefe will entertain little ones nearby with her “Elfin Christmas.”

Free horse-drawn carriage rides will be running both evenings on Main Street, Mrs. Claus will be at Hein and Company bookstore reading holiday stories to children, and Father Christmas, Merry Holly, the Outlaws and Old Dawgs, and other costumed characters and little elves add that special sparkle to Main Street.

Friday evening, families can take photos with Great Pyrenees dogs, graciously provided by the Great Pyrenees Club of California. Holiday fun and activities on both nights will include carolers and an old-fashioned organ grinder, a cookie contest at 148A Main Street (Jackson Business and Community Association), and face-painting at Davenport Properties.

The whole family will enjoy the cheerful holiday atmosphere as Jackson’s downtown merchants pull out all the stops to make this year’s Christmas Delights something special indeed! In addition to keeping their doors open after hours on both nights and offering refreshments, shopkeepers will offer holiday specials to visitors browsing through festively-decorated gift shops and specialty stores!

"I'm just so excited about this year's Christmas Delights,” said Event Chair Gale Fairbrother. “This year the merchants on Main Street and the JBCA are really going all out to make it something special. We hope everyone will come down to Main Street and enjoy all the fun, goodies and activities of this wonderful, time-honored tradition!”

Start off your holiday season with Christmas Delights, a treasured downtown Jackson tradition. Sponsored by the Jackson Business & Community Association, www.VisitJacksonCA.com, and hosted by Jackson’s downtown merchants.
