Ramsey Fire Update...1,155 Acres, 50% Contained, Hwy 4 Now Open Without Restrictions

Ganns Meadow, CA...Summary: Firefighters on the Ramsey Fire today made significant progress in constucting containmement line. Taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and higher humidity, the fire is now 50% contained and the forward spread of the fire has been stopped. Visitors and residents should expect to see helicopters, fire apparatus and support vehicles over the next few days.

Highway 4 has been opened without traffic controls. Visitors traveling along Highway 4 should expect slow traffic and smoky conditions when traveling through the fire area. Fire crews will also be conducting chipping operations of brush materials created by fire suppression activities along Highway 4. All recreational lakes, trails and campgrounds are open at this time.

South Central Sierra Interagency Incident Management Team is assigned to the Ramsey Fire. An Incident Base Camp has been established at the Bear Valley Ski Area. For current Ramsey fire information call 951-297-3495.

Was the campfire that started the Ramsey fire allowed? Do they know who started it and if so will that person or persons be held responsible?

so happy to read and smell that the fire is so well contained now. it's good to know we have such responsible firefighters looking out for us. We have our prenotification of the new fire tax, I would like to hand deliver it to CalFire on Monday but I know it won't be acceptable.
We have no qualms of paying it as the 20th anniversary of the Old Gulch Fire approaches.

We view the $150 as just another sleeze by Jerry Brown and the Legislature to balance the budget. What are our taxes going to? Brown's "Train to Nowhere"? The two massive tunnels under the Delta to transfer (more) water to So. Cal? We already pay $375 each year to have our lot cleared of all combustibles and have them hauled off. This is ridiculous!

You could, oh, I don't know.... Do it yourself? Quit complaining. It's the price you pay to not live in the valley or the bay.

A big BS to that. . . That money will never make it to fire operations.

Can I get a credit for all the illegals I've supported since I don't live in the valley?

Seems to me that fire ops are doing their job and getting paid for it. If you know differently, please provide a link for proof. The state may be broke (which you can thank a REPUBLICAN governor for, not Brown) but when a fire rolls up to your front door, you'll be grateful it only cost you $150 to keep these guys working to save your home and everything you own.
Not too sure where your random complaint about illegals was going. People like you are always going to find something to complain about and someone or something to lay a blanket of blame over.
Hey. By the way... I think I hear some kids playing outside. You better go yell at them to stay off of your lawn.

You need to read up on this tax. . . .my $150 will NOT go to frontline fire suppression. If my $$$ was going to pay for 4.0 staffing, additional engines, additional air support, etc I wouldn't be complaining.

BTW, as a resident of Arnold I already pay an additional special district fee that actually goes to front line efforts.. . in addition to property, state, sales, income tax

you must be part of the local "red shoe lace brigade" . Know nothing, spout a lot so all can hear local with nothing better to do.

Take an English class and learn some proper grammar. You type like you're drunk. And more than likely, you are - what with the NASCAR race on and all.

Yes, yes, the ghettos, the gray people.
Come live in Forest ghettos, your safe gated community in the hills. Live among the gray people.

Too bad the $$$ doesn't go to supporting the guys who are actually fighting fire. This tax will in no way help local operations.
