Fishing Report Highway 4 Corridor forAug 12, 2012~by Bill Reynolds of Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods

Arnold, CA...Highway 4 at this time is closed just above Cottage Springs due to a wild fire that is burning in the Gann's Meadow area. For the latest road conditions go to the Cal-Trans website and put in Highway 4. If you are camping use extreme caution in building and extinguishing your campfire. You can also visit thepinetree.net for up to date pictures and news regarding this fire....

Visit Our Longtime Advertiser, Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods, Above!

The fishing on the highway 4 corridor has been excellent. Make sure to be fire safe at this time of year as it is very dry out in the woods. You must obtain a fire permit for your campsite if you are not using an improved campsite. Make sure you purchase your license before heading up here as we are the only store to sell licenses from Arnold up as we do experience problems with our machine occasionally.

Trout plants in our area for the week of Aug 11, 2012 include The North Fork of the Stanislaus, White Pines Lake

If you have on floating line use a small split shot to sink your line. Lure fishermen should try Panther Martin spinners, Rooster Tails, Kastmasters, Mepps, Blue Fox, Thomas Bouyants, and Rapala's. Also try using a fly and cast-a-bubble for some different action. Check with me at the store to show you how to rig this up.
