Wonderful Upcoming Arnold Rim Trail Activities!

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming wonderful Arnold Rim Trail activities:

• Volunteer Trail Work Days, this Saturday, July 14th and Aug 11th
• Guided Mountain Biking, Friday, July 20th
• Guided Interpretive Tree Hike, Saturday, July 21st
• Guided Moonlight Hikes, Friday, August 3rd and Aug 31st...

Volunteer Trail Work Day, Saturday, July 14th, 8:30 am. Please meet at the US Forest Service Station in Hathaway Pines at 8:30 am. After a brief safety orientation by Jeffery Hilson of the USFS, we will car pool to Avery Sheep Ranch Road. We’ll be building trail in a gorgeous new location. Since it gets warm as the morning progresses, please bring layers, gloves, hat, sunscreen, and water. If you have a favorite garden tool like loppers, bring those, but we will have tools for everyone. Folks from eight to eighty-eight are invited; children should have adult supervision. We'll wrap up by noon or earlier. Please mark your calendar also for the August Volunteer Trail Work Day August 11th.

Pedal Push in Penny Pines, Friday, July 20th, 9 am. Moderate mountain bike ride approximately two hours on dirt roads and single track. Hosted by Arnold Rim Trail Steering Committee member Jodie. Sign up not needed, just show up at 9 am. Rain cancels. Meet at the northeastern most parking area on Valley View Drive on the ARTA map. Download the map here. For questions call Jodie at 209-795-0735.

Talkin' About Trees, Saturday, July 21st, 9 am.
Learn to identify common trees of the area with naturalist Mary Anne Carlton on a leisurely guided walk of less than 2 miles. Meet at the parking area at the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in White Pines. Bring layers, sunscreen, hat, snack, and water please. Email questions to Arnold Rim Trail Association.

Guided Moonlight Hikes, Fridays, Aug 3rd and 31st. Mark your calendars now so you don't forget, since these wonderful hikes aren't until August. Watch the moon rise from the top of Cougar Rock on this moderate 5.5 mile round trip hike led by Arnold Rim Trail Association Steering Committee member Dave Edney. Meet at parking area on Valley View Drive. It’s the northeastern most parking area on Valley View Drive on the ARTA map. Download the map here. No sign-up needed, hike proceeds even if cloudy, but rain cancels. Bring layers, flashlight, snack, and water. Since the days are getting shorter, please check the Arnold Rim Trail facebook page the week before the hike. Dave will post the departure time for you there. You do not need a facebook account to view this page. Return to vehicles about three hours later. Questions? Contact Dave Edney at 209-795-5931.
