Olsen Measure to Provide Flexibility for Local Governments to Invest in Clean Energy Projects Clears Committee

SACRAMENTO –– Today, Assembly Bill 2131 by Assemblymember Kristin Olsen, R-Modesto, passed the Assembly Local Government committee with unanimous support. AB 2131 will give cities and counties the choice to invest funds in Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) projects within their respective jurisdictions...

“I’m pleased that members of both parties voted to give more local control to our cities and counties,” said Olsen. “AB 2131 will be a tool to promote construction and manufacturing jobs and to lower the unemployment rate in our local communities.”

AB 2131 will allow cities and counties to invest up to five percent of their local aggregate investment funds in PACE Projects.

“I appreciate Assemblymember Olsen for carrying this measure to support job creation and clean energy,” said Modesto Mayor Garrad Marsh. “AB 2131 is a win for local governments, homeowners, and businesses.”

AB 2131 now heads to the Assembly Floor for consideration.

Assemblymember Kristin Olsen, R-Modesto, is Chair of the Legislative Rural Caucus and Chief Republican Whip. She represents the 25th Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes the communities of Angels Camp, Chowchilla, Hughson, Mammoth Lakes, Mariposa, Modesto, Oakdale, Oakhurst, Riverbank, Sonora, and Waterford.
