Dignity Health Announces New President at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas
Sacramento, CA....Dignity Health, the fifth largest health system in the country, and operator of Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas, today announced the appointment of Craig Marks as hospital president, effective the week of May 21. In his new role, Marks will oversee Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital as well as five family medical centers providing primary and specialty care in the communities of Angels Camp, Valley Springs, Arnold, San Andreas and Copperopolis.....

“We look forward to working with Craig in San Andreas,” said Michael Taylor, senior vice president, operations, for the Greater Sacramento – San Joaquin Service Area. “His focus on quality care, patient and employee satisfaction and growth will be a great addition to the hospital and the community.”
Marks brings more than 20 years of professional healthcare leadership experience in acute care hospital administration, operations and medical staff development. Most recently, Marks served as president and chief executive officer of Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Mo. Prior to that, he served as president and chief executive officer at South Haven Community Hospital in South Haven, Mich. and vice president of operations at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
“I’m thrilled that Craig is joining our team at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s,” said Dr. William Griffin, chief of staff and chair of Mark Twain St. Joseph’s corporate board. “He brings great insight about working at community hospitals and the important contributions they make to the public’s health. Craig’s leadership, intelligence and experience are most welcome.”
Marks, 49, holds a master’s degree in hospital and health care administration from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor of arts degree in hospital/business administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
He has a wife, Andrea; and two sons, Ryan and Andrew.
Marks will take over duties from Patti Monczewski, chief operating officer at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, who has been serving as interim hospital president at Mark Twain since October. “I want to thank Patti for her leadership of this important community asset during this time of transition,” said Taylor. “Her many contributions and leadership at Mark Twain and in the community of Calaveras County have been very much appreciated.”
