Senator Gaines Hosts 38th Annual Capitol Frog Jump on Wednesday!
Sacramento, CA...Elected officials, legislative staff & media invited to take part in frog jumping festivities. WHAT: Senator Ted Gaines (R-Rocklin) will host the 38th Annual Capitol Frog Jump at the State Capitol tomorrow. Elected officials, legislative staffers and media are invited to see who can make their frog jump the farthest. Trophies (and bragging rights) will be awarded to winners of the following categories: longest jump, shortest jump and media jump. Senator Gaines will be “jumping” his frog, appropriately named “Capitol Gaines.”...

WHEN: Wednesday, May 2, 2012
Frog jump begins promptly at 12:00 p.m.
WHERE: State Capitol – East Lawn, near the Trout Pond
WHY: Started in 1928, the frog jump was inspired by Mark Twain's fictional work, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” The Calaveras County Fair adopted the Jumping Frog as their theme 10 years later. The public can watch the official Calaveras County Frog Jump Contest at the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee in Angels Camp, which runs May 17-20, 2012.
