In Loving Memory of Philip Bartko, 1930~2012
Philip Bartko passed way peacefully on April 26, losing his battle with cancer. Phil was born in Monessen, PA, on April 23, 1930. He moved with his family to CA during WWII. He was a veteran of the Korean War, then became a machinist and engineer, and is best know for his design of the wine barrel rack that many wineries use today. Known for always having a good joke, Phil enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and time with family and friends....
Phil was a dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Joan Bartko. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Barbara Bartko. He is survived by their children Larry Bartko (Diana) and Janis Gowan (Mark), his grandchildren Dustin Byland, Mitch (Kate) Gowan, Cole Gowan, Brian Bartko, and Jamie Bartko, and his great-grandchildren Miley Gowan and David Byland. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Holly Ondriezek, Joan’s daughter, for her help in caring for Phil.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 5th, 11 A.M., at Sacred Heart Church in Ione.
