April 21st Fundraiser Garners $5,600 to Benefit Haley Verzani Family!
The April 21 fundraising event staged to help ease the family’s burdens caused by the tragic death of 8-year-old Haley Elaine Verzani garnered over $5,600 according to Jonna Maynard, who along with Brad Jones headed the organizing committee. The event was held in the Murphys Community Park from noon to 7:30 p.m. and featured a BBQ with live musical entertainment. “Once again our community has come together for a noble cause,” states Sue Friedman of the Murphys Community Club that donated the use of the park. ....
“It took a lot of local businesses and individuals to make this event such a huge success.
“Among those we must thank are Uncle Mike's BBQ, Arnold Rental, Save Mart Supermarkets, Sierra Hills Market & Natural Foods, Big Trees Market, Gateway Press, Gas Mask Graphics, Swift Signs, Arnold Bistro, Hatcher Winery, Tanner Vineyards, Grounds, Family 4 Fitness, Moaning Caverns, Frog's Tooth Vineyards, Calaveras County Sheriff's Department, Salon Serenity, Sierra Nevada Adventure Company, VdorA, Salon, etc., Small Town Girl Boutique, One Leaf Trading Company, Lila & Sage Catering, NEXT! Upscale Resale, Calaveras County Airport, and Forest Meadows Golf Course.”
Frieddman also had high praise for the many volunteers and for Chains Required, The Experimentalists, The Hills Brothers Band, Blues Box and Julio & Nedra who donated their talents to provide the musical entertainment.
Haley Verzani was killed on March 18 when a 100-foot fir tree crashed into her Arnold home during a fierce storm. She was a third-grader at Hazel Fischer Elementary School in White Pines. In addition to the loss of their daughter, the family faces replacement of their belongings destroyed during the downpour.
