Rats Make Great Pets!

Arnold, CA... Last weekend in front of Big Trees Market in Arnold the Calaveras Humane Society was holding an Adopt a Pet. Something unusual caught our eye. Among the usual dogs and cats a cage of Rats was prominently featured. When we spoke with Claire Wiley she said they make great pets. There were 10 in this litter. I am not sure if they are spayed or neutered though. They may still have some available. If you are interested give them a call. Claire is pictured below with one of her new friends....

How we work: Humane Society animals are housed in volunteer foster homes throughout the county. If interested in checking into a pet, please call our general contact number at (209) 736-9417. Our general email is chs@calaverashumane.org . All of our adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, screened for heartworm (in dogs) and feline leukemia (in cats) and vaccinated before becoming available for adoption. We ask adoption donations to cover part of our cost; Dogs: $150. House cats and kittens: $50 for one, $80 for two. Barn cats: Free. In the interest of finding homes for animals, this is less than it would cost you to have this same work done. Funding for "snipping" and handing is provided by private donations and fund raisers. Our labor is provided by volunteers. We are an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. We work cooperatively with the county's Animal Services in San Andreas to save their animals. See more of our available pets at www.calaverashumane.org and www.calaverasAS.petfinder.com. Thank you!
