San Andreas, CA...We had the pleasure of catching up with local business owner Cliff Edson. The Country Cliff's Restaurant owner had decided to throw his hat in the ring for the District one Supervisor Seat against incumbent Gary Tofanelli. Our interview is below and Cliff's Candidate Statement is enclosed...
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
As a community oriented resident of District 1, I am running for County Supervisor. I stand for truth and fairness. I believe in respect, family, honor, working hard, and duty to my country. I do not need the supervisor’s job for my ego or self image. I am not beholding to any self interests. I have only one interest, to make District 1 a better place to live.
This office should not be of partisan politics, but a relationship between you the voter, and me your representative. If I am elected, we will make a difference in District 1. Together we will address the following issues: economic growth and development, an efficient and friendlier government, preserving our history and natural resources, property rights, higher education, and of course police and fire protection.
As your Supervisor, I will work with Supervisor’s in all other districts to help them achieve their goals, but my duty and responsibility will always be to put my constituency first. District 1 is an important gateway into Calaveras County. Through wise economic development, and common sense development of our natural resources, we will create a place that we all can be proud of, for ourselves, and our children.

I have known Mr. Edson for nearly 15 years and even though being members of different clubs, I have worked closely with him on a number of Rotary projects. In these projects there were three things that were quite apparent, his organizational skills, his ability to work with others and most importantly, his commitment to his community. I am not a resident of District 1 but would encourage those that are to take the time to get to know this man and give him the consideration he deserves as a member of our Board of Supervisors.
